Volcanic rock (basalt) is a porous stone formed after a volcanic eruption. It is rich in essential minerals such as sodium, magnesium, aluminum, silicon, calcium, manganese, iron, phosphorus, nickel, and cobalt.
This natural material promotes plant growth, increases soil air permeability, and is highly effective at preventing root rot. It is widely used in gardening, horticulture, and as a substrate for succulents.
Small particle volcanic rocks (1-6 mm) are loose, porous, and mineral-rich. They are ideally suited for succulent plants as soil amendments or decorative pavement. They enhance aeration, protect against pests, and prevent root decay caused by excess moisture.
Pumice, a specific type of volcanic stone, is exceptionally light and breathable. Its internal pores hold air and water, supporting root respiration and moisture management. Notably, it is durable and pulverizes very slowly over time.
